‘A Postcard from the Hollow: The Secret Life of Mikey the Powerful Owl’ will take flight in October 2025. It is a community collaboration based on Georgia Cameron’s highly commended 2024 Australian Wildlife Society wildlife fiction short story competition entry and Michael Bianchino’s impressive body of photographic work compiled over a decade of monitoring Powerful Owls. The illustrations were created by Macquarie University Junior Science Academy students guided by local artists Melony Smirniotis and Jo Goodchild. It includes an inspirational foreword by acclaimed horticulturist and media personality Graham Ross AM VMM FAIH and motivational afterword by the founder of Higher Ground Raptors Peggy McDonald OAM CF. $10 from each book sold will be fundraised for Sydney Wildlife Rescue and BirdLife Australia's Powerful Owl Project.

It’s another beautiful double A4, 2-page spread to A3, spiral binding in the middle, 200gsm with satin finish featuring 13 of Michael’s amazing Powerful Owl images from Byles Creek Valley. It sold through the lovely Lucy at the Beecroft Post Office. All profits from the 100 copies printed of $934 will be split between Sydney Wildlife Rescue Northern District Branch and BirdLife Australia’s Powerful Owl Project.
